Larne councillor calls for cheaper milk

A councillor from Larne asked for the council to campaign for a better deal for local people over milk prices in January 1990.

DUP Councillor Bobby McKee said; “Old age pensioners, the unemployed and disabled have a hard enough time without having to pay even more money for their milk.

“The cost of food is increasing dramatically and I think it is very unfair that people have to pay even more money for their milk with an extra penny or two on a pint.”

The Democratic Unionist Party representative added: “To those who aren’t so well off, a couple of pence every day does add up to quite a lot of money and can mean pounds extra to the bill.

“I feel that the council should take the matter to task.”
