Larne dog owners fined £6,460 for offences

Larne Borough Council has generated almost £6,500 in revenue from fines involving dog-related offences since April last year.

The vast majority of fixed penalties (£5,430) was from dog owners who did not have valid licences for their pets.

A total of £580 came from dog straying, while £100 was for dogs being one land where livestock is present.

A further £100 of income was generated by penalties for dog fouling, and the same amount came from dogs in cemeteries.

Fines totalling £150 related to dogs in play parks/playing fields in the borough.

The fine for breaching a dog control order is £80, or £50 if paid within 10 days.
