Larne enjoys a Scottish country dancing revival

SCOTTISH country dancing seems to be enjoying a revival in the Larne area.

The No 1 Club is now holding classes each Wednesday night, hosted by the Naggy Burn Ulster Scots Society.

Teacher Kerry Jordan is delighted with the turnout over the first few weeks, with people travelling from Carrickfergus and Ballyclare to join in the fun.

Kerry, who is FDTA-qualified, is a championship winner and spent three years travelling with a worldwide show, is well-equipped to teach. Her pupils are enjoying learning how to master “the promenade” to dance the Gay Gordons and Strip the Willow, as well as other Scottish country dancing moves.

The class - costing 2 per person - is held every Wednesday at 8pm and is open to novices as well as those who know some dances.
