The grant, which is part of over £884,000 invested by Children in Need in County Antrim projects, will be delivered over three years to run a project for disadvantaged children and young people in Larne.

Larne Community Care Centre provides a safe place for children and young people and gives them the opportunity to take part in social activities where they are able to learn about healthy lifestyles and develop positive relationships with their peers and families.

Reacting to the grant, the centre’s spokesperson Lucinda McFall said: “We’re over the moon to hear that we’ve been awarded this funding from BBC Children in Need.

“With this grant we’ll be able to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people living in our area.”

National Head of Northern Ireland for BBC Children in Need Paddy Sloan said: “It’s great to be associated with projects such as Larne Community Care Centre which allow children and young people to develop their talents while having a good time with their friends.

“Our grants fund work that provides critical support to those involved, at a time and in a place where they need it most. A big thank you to everyone who has fundraised or donated to make these grants possible!”
