Larne man rewarded for ‘right thing’

‘Doing the right thing’ paid off for a Larne man recently.

Ian Bates, from Glynn Road, was rewarded for properly cleaning-up after his dog, Odo.

Mr Bates was spotted ‘doing the right thing’ by Ossie Porter, one of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s staff.

Mr Bates was rewarded for his diligence and was presented with a special ballot ticket.

Offenders can find themselves facing a possible fine of £80 if they do not clean up after their dogs.

The ballot ticket went into a draw for a £50 voucher sponsored by Larne traders. Mr Bates’s ballot was duly picked out as the winner.

This was the fourth such draw in the Larne Traders’ Forum initiative and the last to be awarded. Alternative schemes are now being considered.
