Larne Music Festival begins today

The vibrant event is aimed at children and young people and is tailored to encourage the rawest beginner to the more accomplished musician.

Adjudicators are Jonathan Rea, pianoforte, from 10am today; Mairead Forde, traditional classes, from 6pm; Richard Yarr, choral classes, all day tomorrow, from 10am; and new to Larne festival, Gillian McCutheon, instrumental classes, commencing at 10am on Saturday.

A Youth Concert will be held on Saturday, at 7pm, with proceeds from donations going to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

The festival programme is priced £2. Visitors are asked to give donations towards costs
