Larne residents urged to recycle old appliances and maybe win a prize

Larne Borough Council have teamed up with ERP, one of the UK’s leading waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries recycling schemes to offer a prize draw for an Amazon Kindle Fire.

From August 18 to 23, those bringing unwanted electronic items, big or small, will be given a draw ticket for each item they bring into Larne Council’s three recycling centres.

Philip Thompson, Director of Environmental Services for Larne Council said: “Anything that has a plug can be recycled e.g. kettles, toasters, fridges, freezers, TVs, computers, even electric toothbrushes. None of these items should ever be placed in bins and should always be brought for recycling”.

On arrival at the recycling centres people need to ensure a member of staff is notified of what they are bringing for recycling that their details can be taken for the draw. The winners will notified in September.
