Larne RNLI flies flag at half mast for late rescuer Catriona

A post on Larne RNL’s Facebook page said: “Extremely sad news today from Co Clare.

“The thoughts of everyone in Larne RNLI are with our colleagues and friends in the Irish Coast Guard.”

“We stand with our colleagues in the Irish Coast Guard at this extremely tough time and offer our sincere condolences to Caitriona’s family and friends.”

The local station is also flying its flag at half mast today (Tuesday September 13) as a mark of respect.

The Coast Guard boat which Mrs Lucas was in capsized near cliffs off the Co. Clare Coast during a search and the three crew members were thrown into the sea.

The mother-of-two was reported deceased after she was recovered from the water.

Her two crew mates were recovered and were transported to Limerick hospital for further care.

The Irish coast guard said that their injuries were not thought to be llife threatening.
