Larne student Conor Sheridan seeks votes in Assembly election

Conor Sheridan, who is currently studying towards an accountancy degree, is to be an independent candidate for the East Antrim constituency.

The 24-year-old from Mllbrook, a former pupil of St McNissi’s Garron Tower, feels that more young people need to enter the political arena.

He told the Times: “I want to help put an end to the current divisive politics that exist in Northern Ireland, and focus on the issues which matter most to the local community.

“If I become an MLA, I intend to campaign for more employment in East Antrim, support the rights of everyone facing injustice, including fighting for gay rights.

“I also want to endeavour to put an end to the abuse of zero hour contracts, campaign for more funding to be made available for those experiencing mental health problems, and do whatever is necessary to support the NHS and to avoid further closures.

“Elsewhere, I want to help farmers by ensuring support payments come quicker, and continue to support our war veterans by injecting more cash to Help for Heroes.”
