Larne support group for terminally ill closes

Local group Comfort and Care for the Terminally Ill (CACTI) has had to close, according to its chairperson Maggie Taggart.

Maggie, who has been in the role for two years, told the Times: “It upsets me greatly to have to give up this charity which has been going for 20 years but I have many commitments with my daughter Claire, who is on the GB Paralympic Squad and I cannot give CACTI work the 150 per cent time the charity deserves.

“Any donations currently in the bank account will be given to a local charity of the committee’s choice.

“I personally thank everyone who has supported me and donated to CACTI during my two years in the post and wish to assure people who have equipment from CACTI that alternative arrangements to service and look after the said equipment are already in place and no one will have any changes made to their present situation regarding equipment.”
