Larne teacher '˜into film' set fordazzling London awards ceremony

Tracy, a former Larne Grammar pupil, is one of three nominees who have been selected from thousands of entries to get to this stage of the competition.

A senior teacher at Ashfield Girls’ High School, in Belfast, Tracy has been invited to attend the prestigious awards ceremony, hosted by Radio One’s Edith Bowman, at London’s Odeon, Leicester Square, later this month.

Tracy, a special needs co-ordinator head of media and moving arts, was nominated for the award because of her work promoting film as a tool to enable her pupils to overcome social and academic issues, to “raise their aspirations and achievements and to help them achieve despite adversity through the medium of film”.

Tracy also works closely with Cinemagic and Into Film NI and has supported and encouraged her students to successfully apply for projects such as the BFI Film Academy, National Film and Television School Residential.
