Little Amelia-Grace Magee, who is two years old, is a finalist in the category of the pageant for kids aged six months to 36 months.

The finals will be held at the Belfast Loughshore Hotel on September 10.

In the run-up to the competition, Amelia-Grace’s family are planning to fundraise for the United Together Foundation, which describes itself as “a non profit organisation that assists, educates and brings people together in the fight against bullying, racism and discrimination.”

Amelia-Grace’s mum Kerrie told the Times: “The United Together Foundation works to stop racism, bullying including cyber bullying, discrimination and the like so we will be holding a car boot sale in order to raise funds for it.

“I am also considering a sponsored walk or kids’ party to raise money for the Foundation.

“Hopefully being associated with the pageant will help get United Together more publicity.”

On its social media page, the competition emphasises that it is a “natural pageant” with younger finalists “prohibited from wearing make up, hair pieces and fake tan.”

It adds that there is no swimwear round and no height or size restrictions

Kerrie continued: “Amelia-Grace loves dressing up and being a wee princess, she loves socialising and the attention.

“We couldn’t believe it when she got through the first and second stages as there were a lot of kids entered from across Northern Ireland.

“Amelia-Grace will be representing Larne in the competition, and she will have to wear different outfits.

“First she will wear the competition’s branded t-shirt and leggings, then ‘recycle wear’ which involves creating something of anything that has been used, from plastic bottles to wool or paper.

“Then she has to dress as if she is going to the Oscars and finally in evening wear.

“She’s not nervous, she loves the attention but she doesn’t do anything on cue so I think she will be the comedy act!

“She will get to be a princess for the day but if she doesn’t like it she won’t have to do it again, if she does we will enter more competitions.”
