Larne Traders Forum expresses ‘disappointment’

Larne Traders’ Forum chairman John Shannon has branded ‘I Love Larne’ an “appalling waste of licence payers’ money”.

Mr Shannon said: “It basically portrayed Larne as a rubbish town, with inaccurate comments from some of those featured that the town was full of empty shops.”

The Larne businessman added: “It did show some of the good work of the council in relation to helping people during the big freeze and the aftermath of the FG Wilson job losses, but really you would have got the impression that the chief executive runs the town and that she saved the town.”

Vice-chair of the forum, Mark Dobbin, added: “I was very disappointed with the content of this programme. “Why was the business community in the town not more widely represented?

“And why were the young people of Larne not given a chance to air their views?

“There is no much more to Larne which was not shown or even mentioned in this documentary.

“The whole thing was ridiculous and pointless,” he concluded.
