Latest: Cookstown teenagers attacked by masked men armed with wooden bats

Two teenagers in Cookstown have been attacked by masked men wielding bats.

Police say the attack happened in the Windsor Crescent area of Cookstown on Saturday night.

A PSNI spokesman laid out the details of the assault.

At around 11.10pm it was reported that two teenage males were standing outside a house in the area when they were approached by a number of masked men carrying wooden bats and assaulted.

“One of the teenagers sustained a swollen cheek and a cut to his lip as a result.

“The men made off on foot across nearby playing fields.”

Chief Inspector Joe McMinn is appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the incident to contact CID in Cookstown on the non-emergency number 101.
