LATEST: Man charged with Bertie Acheson manslaughter

A 39-year-old man from the Antrim area has been charged with the manslaughter of Coleraine pensioner Bertie Acheson.

The man is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday). He had previously been arrested as part of the investigation into the death of Mr Acheson.

The pensioner died following a burglary at his home on 30 April. A 23-year-old woman appeared in court earlier this month charged with Mr Acheson’s manslaughter.

Mr Acheson, 72, died from a heart attack after a break-in at his house in Coleraine in April. He collapsed after confronting an intruder.
