LATEST: New lead in Bertie Acheson murder

Police are following a new lead in the murder of Coleraine pensioner Bertie Acheson.

PSNI have said that information has become available which has shifted their focus away from Coleraine to Antrim.

The officer leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Ian Harrison, said he could not disclose the exact details, but confirmed the new information was “significant”.

“It means we are now focusing our attention on the Antrim area because that is where we believe the killer is based,” he said.

Mr Acheson, 72, suffered a heart attack after he confronted an intruder at his home in Glenmore Gardens in the early hours of Monday 30 April.
