MOIRA WI: ACTION Mental Health were welcomed to the May meeting and not only gave a talk but helped fill flower baskets.

This was followed by a “hands-on” competition won by Jackie Brown.

Vote of thanks and donation presented by the President Ann Irwin.

Competition for floral arrangement in egg cup was won by Suzanne Mc Conville.

Birthday for month: Rosemary Henderson.

The AGM in June was chaired by Executive Member Helen Dunlop and tellers Dorothy Andrews and Barbara McClenaghan.

Jackie Brown was elected President. Committee members are Frances Allen, Florence Bowler, Helen Coulter, Rosemary Henderson. Ann Irwin Una Tallon and Grace Wells.

Competition for fancy button was won by Joan Gilbert.

Birthday for month was Elizabeth Lemon.

Highlight of the evening was Jubilee “street-style party” supper supplied by the committee.

WARINGSTOWN WI: The WI has just completed a very successful year, with a very good attendance at monthly meetings.

During the year they gained eight new members and had a number of interesting speakers including Dr W Millar, Travel Solutions Belfast and Miriam McAtackney.

The charity supported this year was Arthritis Research and Jinty Anderson encouraged members and visitors to take part in Scottish Country Dancing.

Members attended area meetings, paid visits to other institutes and went to Greenmount for the WI’s 80th birthday celebration.

Several members were successful exhibiting crafts at Balmoral Show.

The AGM took place in June and Martha Arlow was again elected president.

New members are always welcome.
