Latest: NI Water fixes Cookstown shortage, but still working on Pomeroy and Draperstown

However, the company said problems in both Pomeroy and Draperstown are still ongoing and that their team, along with NIE, are working hard to get these areas back online.

“NI Water can confirm the issue with Lough Fea Water Treatment Works which resulted in properties directly served from the works experiencing an interruption to their water supply has been resolved,” a spokesperson from the company told the Mail today [Jan 15].

“There is an ongoing issue in the Pomeroy area affecting approximately 35 properties.

“NI Water have multiple staff deployed in the area to address air locking in the system and we are hoping to have this resolved by this evening,” they added.

“NI Water fully recognises this is a frustrating experience for our customers, and can assure them we are doing everything possible to restore water supplies as quickly as possible.”

NI Water have said both these areas lost their water supplies as direct result of industrial action, whilst homes in Draperstown had no water this morning due to an electrical supply issue caused by bad weather.

“NI Water is dealing with an electrical supply issue caused by the current weather situation at Mormeal Service Reservoir which supplies customers in the Draperstown area,” they added.

“NI Water staff have been deployed to this issue [and] NIE are working to resolve the problem.

“We would like to once again thank our customers for their continued patience whilst this problem is being resolved.”
