LATEST: Two men charged over attack in Dungannon car park

Confusion surrounds reports that a man was fatally stabbed in Dungannon within the past 24 hours.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they attended a call to the Killyman Road area of the town at 10.35am yesterday, Thursday, following reports of a male having been assaulted in a car park.

A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service added: “The patient was assessed at the scene and after initial treatment was transported to Craigavon Area Hospital.”

Meanwhile, the PSNI has said two men were charged with common assault following the alleged attack in the Killyman Road area.

In a statement, a police spokeswoman explained: “Police have charged two men aged 34 and 36 with Common Assault. They are due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 24 August.”
