The church will be continually open over the weekend so that people can call in either for peace and quiet, a trained counsellor to talk, or to take away information for onward support.

Tea, coffee, soup, and biscuits will be provided around the clock.

Talks will also be held on various topics, such as Internet safety or bereavement issues.

One-to-one art therapy sessions will be running, bookable in advance.

On Saturday, January 23, there will be a ‘Mood Matters’ talk by Aware Defeat Depression.

The programme incorporates basic cognitive behavioural therapy concepts, teaching participants how our thinking and behaviour can affect how we feel, physically and emotionally.

While the Methodist Church is the location for the event, organisers have stressed that it is entirely nondenominational and people can be assured that their religious beliefs (or lack of them) need play no part in any support offered, unless requested.
