LEDCOM chief is appointed to Stranmillis governing body

the chief executive of Larne Enterprise Development Company Ltd (LEDCOM) has been appointed to the governing body of Stranmillis University College.

Ken Nelson was named as one of three new appointments made by the Minister for Employment and Learning, Dr Stephen Ferry.

The governing body is responsible for overseeing the college’s activities, achievement of its mission, compliance with its framework of governance and the financial memorandum under which funding is received from the Department for Employment and Learning.

Mr Nelson said: ““Like many other families, mine has benefitted from the excellent education provided by Stranmillis University College.

I’m honoured to have the opportunity to support its work on a personal and voluntary basis and from a business perspective.”

Mr Nelson is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Northern Regional College serving as vice chairman of the education committee; a member of the Board of Governors of Ballymena Academy where he is chairman of the marketing committee. In 2012 Mr Nelson was appointed to the Board of InvestNI. He brings a full understanding of strategy development and monitoring and understands the roles played by risk management and strong corporate governance.

The appointment on the governing body of Stranmillis is for a period of four years.
