Legal highs in Larne: Three men face charges

Three men are due to appear in court over a failure to comply with safety regulations at the former hydroponics store, Northern Lights, at Dunluce Street, Larne.

They are Jack McDowell, also known as John, with an address at the Shore Road, Belfast; Rory McDowell of Innis Park and Jonathan McDowell, also known as Jonny and also of Innis Park.

The trio are due to appear at Ballymena Courthouse on February 24.

Jack McDowell is facing eight charges relating to alleged offences in 2014 and 2015. The charges state that as a distributor of psychoactive substances (referred to as NPS), he “failed to act with due care in order to help ensure compliance with the applicable safety regulations” in that he offered or agreed to supply psychoactive substances, knowing that it was a “dangerous product”.

The alleged offences were committed on various dates in 2014 and 2015.

Jonathan McDowell is facing three similar charges and Rory McDowell two such charges.

The case is being prosecuted by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
