Leonard backs retention of NRC

SINN Féin MLA for E Derry Billy Leonard has said that there needs to be firm backing for the retention of the Northern Regional College (NRC) campus in Coleraine.

He was speaking after attending a briefing by Trevor Neilands NRC Director and Chief Executive on re-structuring plans for the College across the Northern area.

Leonard says we must be in early to support retaining a campus in Coleraine.

“There will be one campus for the northern end of its operation and although early indications are that it should be Coleraine, we still need to make a strong statement and make it now.

“This is why I have already tabled a motion to Coleraine Council supporting the retention of the College and a full range of courses. I have also included support for any possible move to a new-build complex in the town. This idea has been around for a long time and may be a future consideration in the overall NRC scheme.
