Let’s band together for IF campaign

SHOPS in Bushmills and Ballycastle are joining the biggest fight against hunger in a decade by stocking wristbands for the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign.

The campaign brings together 170 charities, churches and unions to press world leaders at the G8, to be held in Northern Ireland in June, to act on hunger.

Available for a suggested donation of £1, the wristbands come with a choice of four IF logo colours – orange, yellow, purple and blue. Wear one and you’ll show your solidarity with other IF supporters right across the UK.

And now local people can show their support by getting and wearing a specially-produced campaign wristband. The white band, which can be customised with a choice of moveable coloured ‘IF’ tokens, is available in the Save the Children shop in Main Street, Bushmills and Concern’s shop in Ballycastle. All money raised will go towards increasing awareness of hunger and policies to tackle it.

Diane Bell, leader of Save the Children’s shop in Bushmills, said: “It’s so exciting that Northern Ireland is going to be at the centre of this campaign in June, when world leaders come to Fermanagh for the G8. The charities, unions and churches which are behind the IF campaign are urging people across Northern Ireland to send a strong message that they want leaders to take action to take action that will put us on the road towards ending hunger when they meet here. Now is the perfect time to get involved and show your support”.
