'Let's work together' says McShane

THE Glens and Larne should work together to help to promote both areas to tourists, Councillor Paudie McShane said.

He said the Glens needs to be promoted at Larne Harbour and he said backing is needed for Larne’s Roddens project.

Cllr McShane told a meeting of Moyle Council: “If people are coming into Larne Harbour there should only be one way to turn and that’s down this way.”

The debate came when councillors were told ‘On Screen Solutions (Plasma Screen Advertising)’ - a private company Moyle Council has a contract with - does not have any screens at Larne Harbour or west of the Bann.

Sinn Fein councillor Oliver McMullan said the news the firm has no screens at Larne Harbour - “one of the biggest gateways for tourism” - confirmed what he was fearing.

He said there should be advertising of the Moyle area on ferries coming into Larne.

Council officer Kevin McGarry said ‘On Screen Solutions’ could not get into Larne Harbour.
