Letter to Editor

Dear Sir/Madam,I am writing as an 'old girl' of Londonderry High School 1931-39.

We are all very proud of our old school, which was one of the first girls' schools in Ireland. We were sad when they amalgamated with Foyle College but accepted the change as perhaps inevitable and thought the name of Foyle and Londonderry College a reasonable compromise.

We are deeply resentful that the plan is to drop the word Londonderry, which represents our side of the amalgamation. It is a sign of a deeper attitude.

The 'Old Girls Associations' were not even consulted. This is an unacceptable state of affairs.

Yours sincerely,

Lorna Knox ne Clarke,

Head Girl 1938-39,

President of the Old girls Association circa '99,

Cambridge.
