Library cuts ‘not done deal’ - chief executive

CONTROVERSIAL plans to halve opening hours at Greenisland and Whitehead branches “are not a done deal”, according to the chief executive of Libraries Northern Ireland.

Speaking to the Carrick Times at the official opening of the new £1.1 million Joymount facility this week, Irene Knox pointed to the library authority’s record on listening to the public during consultation but stressed the proposals need to be seen within the context of “having to make savings”.
