Library hours are being cut

As a result of budget cuts, Libraries NI has announced temporary changes to library opening hours across Northern Ireland.

From Monday (November 3), opening hours in a number of libraries will be reduced or will operate with a different pattern.

The temporary reduction in opening hours is one of the measures that has been implemented to make £1.4 million of savings by March 2015 as a result of the Libraries NI budget being cut by 4.4 percent.

Larne Library’s new opening hours are: Monday to Wednesday 10am-5pm, Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm

Two weeks ago, the Times reported a union official’s warning that the loss of agency staff would result in cuts to opening hours.
