Every household in the town and surrounding areas should have already received a colourful leaflet outlining the weekend programmes as well as a short letter from the church’s new pastor Colin Adams.

Colin became pastor of the church in September of last year, although he flew over for a visit this time last year to join in the broadcast.

He spoke at last years’ broadcasted Sunday Services and he will be speaking this year in the morning from the 1st letter Paul wrote to the church at Corinth where he reminds the believers of the unchanging facts of the way of salvation. At the evening service at 6.30pm he will be continuing his examination of the letter to the Ephesians – this week looking at the radical changes that God makes in sinners’ lives – God adopts them, frees them and forgives them.

The church – that’s the members of Ballymoney Baptist – meet at the top of the Ballymena Road and they welcome you to any and all of their meetings. The message of the Gospel is for everyone regardless of church background, race, age or any other thing.

Colin himself nearly wasn’t here however because of the Icelandic ash cloud! He was treated to a trip to US for his recent birthday, to attend the “T4G” Together for the Gospel Conference in Kentucky.

Some of his favourite speakers were taking part - Thabiti Anyabwile, Mark Dever, John MacArthur, C.J. Mahaney and John Piper. You can log on and see their talks about “The Unadjusted Gospel” at t4g@org/conference.

But the ash cloud closed the skies and his flight home was cancelled. Days later, he eventually made it onto a flight to Barcelona and then, a couple of days after that, he flew into Dublin, boarded the bus to Belfast and then caught good old NIR back home to Ballymoney.

The folks at Ballymoney Baptist are mightily relieved to have him home, none more so that his wife, Nicki, who is about to deliver the fourth little Adams child into the world! It is a reminder that while we feel so advanced and developed, so protected by our medical and scientific technologies, we are really at the mercy of a much greater power – and not just “Mother Nature” - but the God who sits enthroned above the skies, sovereign over every circumstance.

It has been a reminder that we are not invincible and we are not all we think we are.

There is a lot to enjoy again this year in the programme – from eye-witness updates on Haiti to the Praise and Testimony programme on Saturday evening.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday there will also be the annual Book Trailer visit to the Castlecroft area at the bottom of Main Street. You can browse through a selection of Christian books and there will be many local Christians around distributing tracts and encouraging people to talk about the life-saving, soul-saving message of Christ.

And remember you can contact the radio with a comment – positive or negative! –a request or a question on 028 2766 6452 or text to 07513888700. If you are outside the radio reach you can always listen online at [email protected]. And if you are interested, you can always drop in and visit – the folks at the church assure you that you will be made very welcome.
