Life changing trip to Poland for Sunlea teenagers

YOUNG people from Coleraine have just returned from a trip to Poland.

And now they would like to share their experiences with the public, at an exhibition evening.

Nine teenagers from Sunlea made the trip, and they all admitted that it was life-changing.

Shannon McLaughlin told The Times: “The experience to me has truly changed the way I look at people.”

The group will be hosting an exhibition evening in Sunlea Youth Centre on Monday, February 15 from 7pm.

The event has been made possible through a partneship with the Big Lottery Fund. It will include a Powerpoint presentation, and will give everyone the opportunity to share the young people’s experiences, fears and expectations in Poland.

Photographs of their journey will be shown, which include their visit to the concentration camp at Auschwitz, the Salt Mines, Christmas Markets and a tour of Krakow.

There will also be the opportunity to taste Polish food and speak to the young people personally.

Ann Grahan, Administrator for Cross Glebe Community Association, said, “It is great opportunity for the young people to share their experiences with local people, and pass on their thoughts and understandings of Polish life.”
