Lifeline supportof Women's Aid

Councillor Paul Reid was speaking after spending time with staff and volunteers during the charity’s open day at its newly refurbished facility at Main Street.

Women’s Aid provides an extensive range of support services and refuge for women and children living with domestic violence and abuse.

This includes housing, financial and legal entitlements, with the aim of enabling women to make informed decisions and positive life choices.

Refurbishment was partially funded by Mid and East Antrim Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

Cllr Reid said: “Women’s Aid provides vital support for local people who find themselves the victims of domestic or sexual violence.

“I was delighted and humbled to attend the open day in Larne and see first-hand the incredible support provided by the charity.

“Women’s Aid meet vulnerable people at their point of need and provide understanding, support and refuge.

“They then provide a support network to help the person to regain self-confidence, self-esteem, and encourage them and help them to make changes which will lead to a brighter future.

“This is a cause extremely close to my heart and one which myself, council and our statutory partners are hugely supportive of.

“Domestic and sexual violence and abuse can never be tolerated. I thank all of those at Women’s Aid for all of their efforts in providing such a critical service to those most at need within our community.”
