Lignite in Northern Ireland presentation

A REPRESENTATIVE from the Geological Survey NI is to address Ballymoney Borough Council on November 15 about 'Lignite in Northern Ireland'.

During a recent Development Committee meeting, members heard that arrangements had been made for the meeting with Gareth Earls of Geological Survey NI following a suggestion by the Economical Minister.

Members also heard that The Collective Objectors to Lignite Development Ltd (C.O.L.D) had been advised on Council’s role in the examination in public to the Northern Area Plan.

The report explained: ‘The Collective Objectors to Lignite Development Ltd (C.O.L.D) have been advised, in response to an inquiry as to Council’s current plans and future stance on the protected lignite areas, as to Council’s role in the examination in public to the Northern Area Plan and its plans to review and agree the list of objections to be pursued at the Examination in Public of the draft Northern Area Plan.
