So Lily who has only ever had trims before, went with her mother Demi Scott to the hairdressers at Studio 18 in Castle Street on Wednesday to get 11 inches of her golden locks taken off.

Her hair was straightened and plaited then cut and will now be sent to the the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides wigs for people battling cancer.

Her granny June Scott from Stoneyford was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and just had surgery this week. She has had chemotherapy, and is due to have radiotherapy treatment as well.

When little Lily discovered her granny was ill and battling cancer she insisted in having her lovely long hair cut.

“She needed a hair cut anyway as it was just too long at the moment anyway,” said mother Demi.

“She’s done a lovely thing and we are just very proud. For her age, what she is doing is amazing.

“She is a selfless little girl who just wants to make the world a better place.”

Demi continued, “Lily has had trims before but her hair has never been cut. It never worried her at all and she just sat in the hairdressers and was good as gold getting her hair cut.”

Her mother has said that now having short hair had not stopped her from feeling like a princess.

To thank her daughter for her brave efforts, her mother bought her a Frozen doll.

“I’m just so really proud of Lily,” said Demi. “She wanted to her hair cut and has not worried about losing it at all.”

Her mum said, “We are also trying to raise money for Lily’s kind gesture so have decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who have been a huge support through it all.”

The justgiving page that Demi has set up will raise money for Macmillan.
