Seating Matters say they are proud to create world-class clinical seating, the first and only seating of its kind to be supported by comprehensive research through an in-depth clinical trial partnered with Ulster University. Our business was first established in 2006 by the Tierney family and over the past 9 years we have gone from strength to strength. We have combined our clinical expertise in Occupational Therapy with our passion and innovation in engineering to allow Seating Matters to become the leader in healthcare seating.

We currently employ 125 people from our Limavady headquarters in direct manufacturing, clinical staff and through a team of sub-contractors. Ten new members have joined our team within the last two weeks. In addition, Seating Matters have a distribution network across the UK, Europe, America, Canada, and Australia. Due to the high demand for our unique chairs being exported across the world, we will be expanding our work force even further. We can foresee a positive future with an additional 64 new employees taking on roles in telemarketing, research and development, customer care and skilled assembly and upholstery.

Managing Director Martin Tierney says, “We are not surprised by the demand for our chairs. The people of Belfast have the same conditions as the people of Boston or Brisbane and the extensive clinical research we’ve conducted with Ulster University clearly demonstrates how we can help these patients. We’re so pleased to be able to meet the demand and help so many people across the world. I’m delighted to reveal that we will be expanding our work force even further than we have in the past couple of weeks and we will be recruiting people for various roles in the New Year.”

The Tierney family have grown Seating Matters to become global leaders in their field, establishing distribution in UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, France, Denmark, Sweden and Netherlands. We achieved this due to our specialist knowledge in the field, surrounding ourselves with good people and the highest manufacturing standards.
