Limavady Museum Appeal for Jubilee Memorabilia

Limavady Museum is appealing for local residents to lend their jubilee memorabilia for a display in the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre to mark the upcoming Diamond Jubilee.

Victoria Newberry, Museum/Heritage Officer said: “All sorts of items are made to commemorate a jubilee. Mugs, spoons, tea towels, plates, the list goes on and on. There have been two previous jubilees in recent memory – the Silver Jubilee in 1977 and the Golden Jubilee in 2002. We are keen to borrow commemorative items from either of these jubilees, or indeed earlier jubilees for the display.

“We have a number of jubilee-related items in the museum collection which we hope to include in the display. We have, for example, a 1977 Silver Jubilee souvenir issue of the Radio Times, as well as a commemorative mug to mark the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1935. It would be great to include local people’s memorabilia alongside these items in the display.”
