Lincoln Crts’landfill boon

A LANDFILL tax credit scheme saw £115k pumped into six Londonderry environmental projects last year, including a multi-use games area in Lincoln Courts.

Environment Minister Alex Attwood said the money was distributed by Groundwork NI and was part of the Landfill Communities Fund.

Formerly the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme the fund “enables landfill site operators to claim tax credit for contributions they make to approved environmental bodies for spending on projects that benefit the environment,” the Minsiter stated.

Local beneficiaries were Galliagh Neighbourhood Park (£42,804.50); Junior Wardens Environmental Project (£4,500); Hope Transition Project (£18,527); Glen Park Masterplan - Phase 2 Childrens Play Area (£41,841.50); Multi Use Games Area at Lincoln Courts Community Centre (£6,812.96); and Cornshell Creative Space Project (£580.75).
