Lisa urges locals to sign up to Dryathlon

Ballymena woman Lisa Kirkwood is gearing up to send alcohol packing as she helps launch Cancer Research UK’s Dryathlon

to ditch the drink for September and is encouraging people across County Antrim to take up the challenge.

Dryathlon is the original fundraising campaign that invites social drinkers to take a month-long break from alcohol.

‘Dryathletes’ pledge to stay dry for a month and either get sponsored or donate the money they would have spent on alcohol to the charity.

This is the first time that Cancer Research UK has run Dryathlon outside of their usual January campaign and the charity is inviting local men and women to answer Lisa’s call and register now.

Jean Walsh, Cancer Research UK spokesperson for the Northern Ireland, said: “We are delighted that Sonya Mac has joined Lisa to launch Dryathlon for September and we hope people will take on this new challenge in the autumn.”
