Lisburn artist displays work in major exhibition

FOLLOWING a successful run at Craft Central in Clerkenwell in London, the work of Lisburn jewellery designer Jill Graham will be on show in Belfast throughout April as part of Craft Northern Ireland’s showcase exhibition of the finest contemporary craft - ‘Perspective: Inspiration Unveiled’.

Jill uses specialist machinery to create exquisite pieces with the finest detail and meshwork to achieve an intricate and textured look in all her designs.

Her jewellery is made with sterling silver and 18ct gold, each piece handmade and individual; her work is inspired by organic structures and elements of plant life. Each piece of jewellery has a wonderful sense of movement and texture.

Supported by the Creative Industries Innovation Fund, this successful exhibition brought some of NI’s most talented designer-makers to the attention of leading London retailers, VIPs and the wider public.

Now, Craft NI are delighted to present the work of these makers to a Northern Irish audience at the Craft NI Gallery on Waring Street in Belfast.

Professor Karen Fleming, curator of the exhibition, said: “Inspired by the unique landscape and culture of Northern Ireland, all the makers in ‘Perspective: Inspiration Unveiled’ bring a distinctive perspective and a contemporary edge to their creative products.”

From jewellery designers to sculptors, ceramists, weavers, glass blowers and furniture designers, there will be a wide array of disciplines represented.

Alan Kane, Chief Executive of Craft Northern Ireland, said: “Craft NI were delighted to have the opportunity to bring to the attention of leading London buyers and craft lovers, exciting new work reflective of the excellent standard of contemporary craft work happening in Northern Ireland.

“We are now proud to bring the work of thirteen of NI’s exceptional makers back to a home audience.”

The Perspective: Inspiration Unveiled Belfast exhibition was launched on April 4 (6.30pm-9pm) and will continue from April 5 to 26 (10am-4pm weekdays only) at Craft NI Gallery Cotton Court 30-42 Waring St, Belfast, BT1 2ED.
