Lisburn branch to donate £30k to Parkinson’s research

The Lisburn Branch of Parkinsons UK has agreed to donate £30,000 to two research projects sponsored by the Society’s Research Network.

The donation is being split equally between two projects. £15,000 goes to the Parkinson’s UK Brain Bank and £15,000 is being allocated to a drug trial aimed at improving balance and reducing falls.

This latest £30,000 donation brings the total amount of money given by the Branch, since its inception seven years ago, to £98,000.

The Branch normally meets on the third Monday of each month commencing at 2:30pm in the Conference Centre, Graham Gardens, Lisburn. It provides a wide range of services to people with Parkinson’s, their family and their carers.

The debilitating affliction affects approximately 3,500 people in NI.
