Lisburn business owner passes away

A well known and popular Lisburn businessman and joint owner of one of the city’s best-known stores has passed away.

Hubert Patterson , who ran Smyth Patterson with his brother Harold, passed away on Tuesday evening (September 16) at the age of 82.

Hubert and Harold took over the business at a young age from their father Smyth Patterson, who established the family business in Lisburn in 1936.

Hubert primarily looked after the household department at the store, which moved to its current home in 1946.

Hubert is survived by his wife Isobel and sons Colin, Andrew and Charles.

The funeral will be held on Friday (September 19) at 2pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church at Boardmills.
