Lisburn carer Lorraine in line for major award

A local domiciliary carer has been nominated for an award celebrating the brilliant work done by care workers across Northern Ireland.

Lorraine Fennell, a community care worker with Lisburn’s Mears Care, is one of three finalists in her category at the Northern Ireland Independent Care Awards, organised by Independent Health and Care Providers.

Lorraine was nominated for her consistent dedication to home caring, including making late night calls to dying clients in order to make them a bit more comfortable, such as through offering fluids. Lorraine has also received praise from families for her tireless, individualised care and attention.

She will find out if she has won the gong at a ceremony next Wednesday, October 29, at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.
