Lisburn churches prepare for Easter

TWO joint Easter events have been planned by ministers from Lisburn city centre churches - First Lisburn Presbyterian, Railway Street Presbyterian, Seymour Street Methodist, St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Lisburn Cathedral, Christ Church Parish and Lisburn Christian Fellowship.

The annual Good Friday ‘Carrying of the Cross march of Witness’ will be held in Lisburn on Friday afternoon March 29. The procession will gather at the lower end of Bow Street at 12.30pm then make its way along Bow Street to Market Square for a short act of worship at 12.45pm led by the Lisburn City Centre Ministers. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the vestibule of 1st Lisburn Presbyterian Church where there will also be an opportunity to receive prayer or take time for quiet reflection.

Members of First Lisburn Presbyterian, Railway Street Presbyterian, Lisburn Cathedral and Christ Church Parish will gather for a ‘Joint Dawn Service’ in Castle Gardens on Sunday March 31 at 7am (entrance through Cathedral Halls) followed by breakfast in Lisburn Cathedral Church Hall. Members of Seymour Street Methodist Church will gather for a ‘Sunrise Service’ at Hillsborough Lake at 7am.

Lambeg Churches will also hold a Good Friday Procession, the second of what is planned to be an annual event. The procession will commence at Derryvolgie Parish Church at 10.30am and made its way to Harmony Hill Presbyterian Church then St Colman’s Roman Catholic Church and lastly Lambeg Parish Church where refreshments will be served about 12.30pm. A short time of reflection will be held in each church.
