Lisburn company is an environment star

Andrew Ingredients gained its certification for managing its environmental impacts within its office and warehouse facility, including waste and energy management.

Some of the impressive systems installed, which include a new energy efficient gas fired boiler, training and improved recycling facilities, has enabled the company to determine and action a variety of measures to reduce its environmental impact and reduce associated costs across the business.

Tim Andrew, from Andrew Ingredients, commented; “The team has worked hard to achieve this accreditation. It’s been quite an undertaking to establish best practice and develop our environmental policy but the immediate impact this has had on our business has been incredible.

“Working towards the BS8555 certification has helped provide focus for us as well as helping to comply more easily with legislation. We couldn’t have achieved this award without the support, guidance and encouragement from the team at Business in the Community.”

“During the appraisal and audit processes for the BS8555 Standard, there is an evaluation of costs as well as environmental performance - this means that at each stage the company or organisation will have an outline environmental management system that relates to its bottom line. Andrew Ingredients has been supplying food ingredients to many sections of the food industry, across Ireland, including bakers, food processors, pie manufacturers and ice cream manufacturers for over 67 years.
