Lisburn DistrictParade at weekend

Lisburn District LOL No6 and Pride of Knockmore Flute Band will host an act of remembrance parade in Lisburn tomorrow (Saturday) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

Brethren and sisters are requested to meet at 10.45am for the parade to leave Lisburn Orange Hall at 11am via Wallace Avenue, Seymour Street and Castle Street to assemble at the Lisburn war memorial in Castle Street for a service at 11.30am, which will include laying a wreath.

The parade will then return to the Orange Hall via Castle Street, Market Square, Market Street, Smithfield, Market Place, Bow Street, Antrim Street, Bachelors Walk, Railway Street for refreshments and to visit the First World war exhibition which will be open from 12.30pm to 6pm.

During the exhibition there will be a talk by historian Quincy Dougan, along with Irish war tunes and Jane Waterson will be entertaining all visitors with her concert flute.

Scottish dancers and music will also be ongoing during the afternoon.

Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the commemorations, with brethren and sisters from visiting districts invited.
