Lisburn groups benefit from share of £50,000 Big Lottery funding

Groups across Lisburn are to benefit from a huge funding boost sharing a £50k grant from the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All programme.

The small grants programme is awarding £942,846 to 114 groups across Northern Ireland.

St Joseph’s Primary School in Lisburn is using the £10,000 to install an adventure trim trail to give the children fun and engaging physical play opportunities within the school grounds.

Larchfield Community Development Association encourages residents of Anahilt, Aughnaleck and Legacurry to get involved in community activities. They are using the £6,784 to deliver a range of social activities to build skills and improve the physical and mental wellbeing of people in the area.

Dunmurry Community Association has received a £8,900 grant from Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.

Dunmurry Community Association, provides community led initiatives including advocacy, advice, learning and development, support and networking. They are using the £8,900 to hold a variety of community cultural celebrations and a community sports day.

Scoil Na Fuiseoige offers adult classes with creche facilities, and cross community and intergenerational activities. They are using the £9,950 to provide activities and trips to improve mental health and support bonding between children and parents.

Glenclare Friendship Group helps retired and older people in the Glenavy community feel less isolated. They are using the £6,300 to provide a variety of health and social activities to its members aged between 60 and 92.

Joanne McDowell, Big Lottery Fund NI Director, said: “The Big Lottery Fund’s NI Awards for All programme funds health, education, environment and community projects that help people bring about positive change in their lives, improve health and well-being, develop skills and create safer communities. “The application process is simple and accessible and shall remain so, making it easy for applicants to successfully apply for small pots of funding that can have such a big impact on local communities and lives.”
