Lisburn groups get lottery windfall

TWO groups are to share almost £20,000 as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.

Barbour Nursery School and Positive Future will receive the grants as part of the scheme that offers community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants of between £500 and £10,000 that will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.

Barbour Nursery School has been awarded a grant of £10,000 to create an environment and wild meadow and natural play area for the children.

The area will help with the children’s creativity, teach them to respect the environment, boost their education and encourage them to play and share together.

Positive Futures, which works to improve the lives and opportunities of people with learning disabilities, has been awarded £9,079 to run two programmes for parents and carers of young people with a learning disability.

The small grants programme is awarding grants totalling just over £19,000 to the local groups as part of a grants roll-out of £564,057 to 68 groups across Northern Ireland.
