Lisburn in Focus set to close

Lisburn in Focus is to draw to a close on December 31, this year after six highly successful years.

The charity brings together a range of activities to promote the health and well being of people with sight loss in the Lisburn City Council area.

The project has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund NI and partnered by Lisburn City Council, Lisburn City Centre Management and Guide Dogs.

Lisburn in Focus has already relocated to RNIB Northern Ireland’s main office at Victoria House, 15- 17 Gloucester Street, Belfast.

A spokesperson for the project said: “Our regular weekly activities, such as the walking group on a Tuesday morning and the Tandem group on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, will continue as normal.

“At least one member of staff will work from the Rowan Centre, Wallace Avenue in Lisburn three times a week: Monday 2.00 to 4.30pm, Wednesday 9.30 to 12 noon and Thursday 2.00 to 4.30pm.

“I encourage anyone we currently work with to keep in touch through phone, email or to drop in to the Rowan Centre if there is anything we can support you with or if you have any feedback or ideas for the remaining time of the project.

“Please be assured, even though we are moving office we plan to be very much involved in the local community of Lisburn right up to the conclusion of the project.”

Lisburn in Focus has supported a group of local people to set up a Constituted group known as Outlook.

They have obtained Charitable Status and we hope that this group may continue some of the work started by Lisburn in Focus when the project finishes.

The Committee welcomes feedback and input at any time regarding their activities and can by contacted via email at [email protected].
