The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett, said: “On behalf of the people of Lisburn & Castlereagh, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

“I am sure like myself many were tuned to the TV news channels or listening to the radio for updates on when the Royal Highnesses would be taking their second child home.

“It was humbling to see the young Royals being like any couple. HRH Prince George was in awe of the media attention but it was heart-warming to see him arrive at the hospital.

“I am sure there was a great sense of joy across the whole country, and indeed the world, when the first glimpses of the new royal were aired on live TV.
