Lisburn man honoured for volunteering

A LISBURN volunteer has received the Action On Hearing Loss Volunteering Award in recognition of his work involving people with hearing loss.

Walter Carswell was presented with the award by Junior Minister Jonathan Bell and was also nominated to carry the Olympic Torch in Belfast last week.

Mr Carswell has been volunteering with Action On Hearing Loss for four years. He provides information to people with hearing loss about maintaining and using hearing aids or other equipment. Colleges, Probus Clubs and other organisations have commended Mr Carswell for his clear delivery of important information which prompts generous donations towards the charity.
