Lisburn man wins iPad in DRD competition

GARY McMurray from Lisburn has won a Department for Regional Development ecar competition.

Gary correctly calculated the distance an electric vehicle could travel around a designated route before requiring a charge and received his prize of an iPad from ecar Project Manager Irene Breen.

ecar is an exciting project to create a market for electric vehicles in Northern Ireland and ultimately contribute to a low carbon transport system.

Lisburn City Council recently joined the ecar Consortium and is currently working with the project team to identify suitable locations for Charge Points for electric vehicles in their Council area.

Over 40 public Charge Points are already installed in car parks and on the road parking in Belfast, Londonderry, Newry, Armagh, Enniskillen and Larne for use by owners of electric vehicles. In addition 3 Rapid Charge Points are installed near some of the major motorways. By March 2013 over 120 standard Charge Points will be installed throughout Northern Ireland.
